R.I.P. Steve Jobs 1955 – 2011

Date Added 09/11/2011

The world woke up today with the announcement that Apple co-founder and all round icon Steve Jobs had passed away at the age of 56 after suffering from a long battle with cancer.

Born in 1955 in San Francisco, Steve, along with Steve Wozniak and Ronald Gerald Wayne founded Apple in 1976 and with that introduced one of the first successful small computers, the Macintosh.

Leaving Apple in 1985, Steve went on to found another company called NeXT Computer, which Apple then purchased in 1996.

Within 1 year of that purchase, he became interim chief executive and used NeXT’s technology to create Mac OS X.

Becoming permanent CEO in 2000, Steve has seen the company he founded turn into one of the biggest companies in the world and if it wasn’t for him, this company would not be here and we may have never seen such brilliant creations such as the iPod, iPhone, iPad and a whole host of Apple computers.

Let’s not forget, Steve was also the man responsible for saving Pixar.

Purchased by Steve in 1986. Pixar went on to make a deal with Disney who were responsible for timeless classics such as Toy Story, Monsters, Inc and Finding Nemo.

Here at the spot, we our deeply saddened to here of his passing and would like to send his family and friends our condolences.
